Adult Chorus
VOCI – Voices of Canton singers invites men and women who have a passion for singing to audition for membership. Applicants should be high school graduates or older with previous choral experience. The audition will consist of singing a prepared solo in any language, vocalizing and sight singing. A pianist is provided. Please call the business office at 330-455-1000 to arrange an audition time. Rehearsals are open to the public. If you would like to sit in on a rehearsal, please come to Cable Recital Hall in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 N. Market in Canton, on a Tuesday evening. Rehearsals start at 7:00 p.m. Please arrive fifteen minutes before starting time.
The excitement of singing with the VOCI chorus is just one of the many privileges that are available for the chorus members. It is an opportunity to work with an outstanding choral director, Loren C. Veigel, whose experience and direction has been an inspiration for all. The thrill of performance each season is a moving experience for everyone!
Children's Chorus
Auditions for the Canton Children's Chorus spring season 2010 will be held on December 28, 2009 in Cable Recital Hall in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 N. Market Ave. in Canton. Auditions for the Canton Children’s Chorus (CCC) are non-threatening, low- anxiety tryouts. Children do not have to prepare a musical selection for this audition. Parents may be present during the audition. Our mission is to provide the highest quality choral experience possible for Stark County students in grades 3-8. We bring together talented boy and girl singers, who learn a challenging musical repertoire, vocal skills appropriate to their age, self-discipline, musicianship, self-confidence and a professional demeanor.
This invitation is extended to new children with a love for music and the enthusiasm to sing and perform. This certainly includes “beginner” and experienced singers, as all children have potential and a willingness to work and grow! We encourage you to audition for this challenging and exciting group. Bel' VOCI
Bel’ VOCI, the newest group within the organization, has been ringing beautiful music for the community since 2005, when a generous grant for the purchase of Schulmerich hand bells was received from the Fred F. Silk Foundation. Under the direction of Christine Allison, this elite group of adult hand bell ringers, ringing level three music, comes together once a week to rehearse in Cable Recital Hall in the Cultural Center for the Arts. In addition to their Christmas and spring concerts, Bel’ VOCI played at Severance Hall in Cleveland in December 2008.
