VOCI WINS TWO GRANTS
Voices of Canton Inc. has been awarded a $4200 grant from Arts in Stark. This grant will be used to present educationally enriching activities for 6th grade students in Summit Arts Academy, Pfeiffer Middle School, Massillon Middle School, Lake Middle School and Sandy Valley Middle School. VOCI docents will visit these schools to involve 6th graders in many aspects of Renaissance life. Fictional stories with the theme of good versus evil and church versus castle will be explored. Manuscript illumination will be introduced and modeled, as well as stained glass art and the use of gargoyles in period architecture. Folk dances and board games of the period will also be explored.
VOCI has also been awarded an "Arts Access" grant from the Ohio Arts Council. The $1,165 matching grant will help fund the upcoming concert, The Works of John Rutter. We are most grateful to both Arts in Stark and the Ohio Arts Council for their generous support!
