Voices of Canton offer vocal music scholarships awarded on merit to residents of Stark County.

Auditions 2014

Auditions for 2014 scholarships will be held:

Sunday, June 8 at 2:00pm
At Cable Recital Hall, Cultural Center for the Arts

Voices of Canton Scholarships
 

2 x $500  Scholarship

To a graduating high school student student studying for a degree in vocal music.

1 x $1,500  Scholarship

To a student at the undergraduate or graduate level studying for a degree in vocal music.

1 x $2,000  Scholarship

To a student at the undergraduate or graduate level studying for a degree in vocal music.


Walter Ed McGrew Scholarship


$500 Scholarship

To a student at the undergraduate or graduate level studying for a degree in vocal music.


Dannemiller Scholarship


$500 Scholarship

To a student studying for an undergraduate degree in vocal music.

 


VOCI SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS 2013-2014

Winners of six vocal music scholarships given by Voices of Canton Inc., the Women's Committee of Voices of Canton and private individuals for the 2013-2014 school year were announced by judges Dr. Britt Cooper, Dr. Samuel Gordon, and Sally Schneider.

Sarah Lockwood received a $1,500 college scholarship for a student studying for a degree in music at the undergraduate level.  She graduated from Washington High School and is pursuing a degree in music education at Capital University.  She is the daughter of Linda and Bruce Lockwood of Massillon.

Valerie Sibila  received a $1500 scholarship for a student at the undergraduate or graduate level studying for a degree in vocal performance.  She is the daughter of Diana Sibila of Perry Township and attends Kent State University Stark Branch.

The Walter Ed McGrew Scholarship of $500 was awarded to Kathleen Bachtel, who is pursuing a major in vocal performance at Westminster College.  She is the daughter of Jennifer and Michael Bachtel of Massillon.

The Stephan Dannemiller scholarship of $500 was awarded to Darius McBride, son of Stephanie McBride of Canton.  Darius is working toward a degree in music education at Malone University. 

Spencer Boyd, son of Glenn and Christine Boyd of Canal Fulton,  received a $2000 scholarship.  Majoring in vocal performance, he will be a sophomore at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.

Natalie James, daughter of Mary and Bob James of Canton is home schooled.  She received a $500 scholarship for private vocal lessons and is currently studying with Amy Yekel. 

The awards were held Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Cable Recital Hall in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 N Market in Canton.  Voices of Canton is partially funded by ArtsinStark.
